Edith Gendron

Chief of Operations for the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center

Edith accepted the position of Central Florida Brain Bank Research Study manager with Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center in August 2013. She was promoted to Chief of Operations in February 2015 where she oversees the day-to-day operations of both the agency’s Care Partner Services, Brain Bank programs, development of new workshops and series and teaches the Savvy Caregiver learning series, the Beyond Savvy Caregiver Series, the C.O.R.E. (Controlling Our Risk Everyday) series, along with the Embrace the Moment workshops. Edith also developed and delivers Michael’s Mission, a program designed to address the gap in services for persons living with young-onset Alzheimer’s disease and their families.  Edith also provides training to community professionals such as law enforcement units and social workers. Additionally, Edith provides training to any business interested in becoming designated as a Dementia Friendly Business. 

Prior to joining ADRC, Edith was the Administrator for a 450-bed assisted living facility, where she initiated a separate unit to provide care for those who were diagnosed with any form of dementia; a Medicaid Services Specialist with a national assisted living facility company, responsible for training Assisted Living Facility teams on Medicaid regulations and compliance throughout the east coast of the United States; and as Assisted Living for the Elderly Medicaid Waiver Specialist and CORE Trainer for Senior Resource Alliance, Orlando. 

Edith also has experience as a Geriatric Day Treatment Specialist for residential populations, direct service provision for chronically mentally ill adults, and as a Mental Health and Substance Abuse contract manager with the Alcohol, Drug Abuse, and Mental Health division of the Department of Children and families. 

Edith is certified in Positive Approach to Care as both a trainer and a consultant and is a member of both Psi Chi and Sigma Tau Delta.

Recent recognition of Edith’s contributions to the community includes Community Hero 2018; National Association of Social Workers, Florida Central Unit Citizen of the Year 2020; Orlando Family Magazine, Super Woman 2020; and Orlando Sentinel, 10 People Who Make Orlando a Better Place to Live 2020. 

Edith is the Chair of the Community Partnerships Committee for Orange County and sits on the Board of Orange County Commission on Aging.
